Dianomi offers the option to block negative keywords as an added layer of brand safety. This helps ensure that ad campaigns are not displayed alongside content that might be considered undesirable or harmful to your brand’s image.
How It Works:
- Account-Level Application: You can block a list of negative keywords at the account level. This means that any keyword in the list will prevent ads from appearing on content containing those terms. The block applies across all campaigns in the account.
- Impact on Campaign Performance: If your list includes very common or generic terms, it could unintentionally restrict ad placements and limit campaign performance. Therefore, it’s important to choose keywords carefully.
Important Considerations:
-
Where Keywords Are Checked:
Dianomi looks for the specified keywords in the URL, the article’s title, and the article’s body text. If a keyword is found, the ad will not run on that content. -
Exceptions (e.g., Apple News):
Keyword blocking does not apply to publishers on Apple News. This is an important exception to keep in mind when creating your keyword list. -
Keyword Selection and Context:
Keywords should be thoughtfully selected. A broadly chosen term—such as “services”—might refer to a variety of contexts. For example, “services” could mean military services or general business services. Overly broad or ambiguous terms could limit campaign reach unnecessarily. -
Site Blocking:
In addition to specific keywords, you can block entire site URLs, subdomains, or particular sections of a site. For instance, you could block “example.com” entirely or just a subsection like “example.com/news.”
