A state ad text macro dynamically updates your ad copy to include the state, county, or region where the user is located. This personalization makes your ads more relevant to users, increasing the likelihood of clicks and engagement with your landing pages.
How the State Macro Works
The state macro automatically inserts the state, county, or region name into your ad text as specified in your geo-targeting settings.
Examples:
- Targeting United States / New York → Inserts "New York"
- Targeting United Kingdom / Greater London → Inserts "Greater London"
- Targeting Australia / New South Wales → Inserts "New South Wales"
To use the state macro, include {state}
in your ad text. This placeholder will be replaced with the user's state, county, or region.
Example:
If targeting New York state, and you want the following ad text:
"Discover the best financial advisors in New York"
You would enter:
"Discover the best financial advisors in {state}"
The macro will replace {state}
with "New York" when viewed by users in that location.
Important Notes About the State Macro
-
Location Accuracy:
The user’s location is determined by their device’s IP address. While generally accurate, this may occasionally vary due to user movement or network configurations. -
Character Limits:
The length of state, county, or region names can vary. If the macro causes your ad text to exceed character limits, the text may be truncated with an ellipsis (...
). Ensure your ads remain concise to avoid this. -
Automatic Title Casing:
Place names inserted via the macro will automatically appear in title case (e.g., "New York" or "Greater London"), with the first letter of each word capitalized.
This dynamic personalization tool helps you create localized ad campaigns that resonate with your audience, driving better results for your business.
